"Her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior.  Sybil was able to quickly gain an awareness of my son's needs, developed the academic support plan, and was able to follow through to ensure that he made the progress needed to demonstrate skill growth. She provided very detailed assessments, instruction, and progress reports. She is a wonderful asset to our family. Her ability to connect with my son, by addressing his unique talents and specific needs, was absolutely incredible. Her compassion and dedication to ensuring my son's progress and success were unparalleled. It is evident that Sybil has a love for her profession and a sincere interest in and concern for her students. Her methods are educationally effective, and resulted in my son's improved academic performance in both the classroom and in standardized testing." Stacey W.

"My son's grades have improved immensely in reading, spelling, and writing since you've been working with him. He's improved from a D student to an A/B student in these classes. It has also boosted his confidence and self-esteem." Linda M.

"My 11-year-old daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, and we were very fortunate to have Sybil Barker as a tutor. We have worked with her for over a year now, and my daughter's reading level is on grade level for the first time. Sybil is an outstanding teacher and tutor. Her knowledge of the science of reading and the characteristics of dyslexia are invaluable. . .  Sybil participates in discussions with other tutors around the country to collaborate on activities and strategies to make tutoring sessions fun and engaging. Most importantly, the sessions are appropriate intervention for children with dyslexia
. . .  Sybil's calm, consistent guidance and demeanor have helped our daughter greatly as well as our family. I am extremely thankful for Sybil Barker and will value her expertise in the life of my daughter for a long time!!!" Laura W., MS CCC-SLP

, I hope that you always know how much your efforts with my grandson have meant to this entire family. It warms my heart to know that he will never again tell me that he is stupid or that everyone thinks he is stupid. I know that there are other influences involved in the changes we see but I must give you the majority of credit for the transformation in this precious and sweet child. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I just cannot imagine a life without reading . . . "

"Sybil Barker has been tutoring my 13-year-old son for the last 1.5 years. My son has a history of anger issues and has also been diagnosed with ADD. As a result, he can be challenging when it comes to compliance and attention. I have been incredibly impressed with Sybil's patience and persistence in working with him.  She has a very calm and loving energy about her and has handled him beautifully during times when teaching would be challenging for most people. Sybil also amazes me with the creative approaches she untilizes in order to teach him various concepts while simultaneously keeping him engaged.  This is especially important with a child who lacks attention.  She is able to make learning "fun" for him with the multitude of games that she prepares for the lessons. She truly cares about teaching and it shows in the way she interacts with him and the amount of time and effort she puts into preparing the lessons.  Her passion for teaching children is obvious. She truly has been and continues to be a blessing to our family!"  M. Singh

"Sybil Barker has tutored our 9 year old daughter in math for over two years now.  Sybil has increased our daughter's math skills and bolstered her confidence in all areas of mathematics. Her calming demeanor is perfectly suited for our daughter and her teaching style encourages learning at whatever pace suits the child.  We highly recommend Sybil as a math tutor.  Using fun, child and age appropriate math games, Sybil teaches the math concept you want your child to learn.  Our daughter could not wait each week for Sybil's return.  She truly is a wonderful math tutor."     Greg R.

"Sybil Barker has demonstrated from the beginning a dedication to the needs of her students, frequently going beyond the call of duty to ensure that childen's academic needs are met. Her efforts have been rewarded by the success of her students in school math grades and standardized testing, as well as in their attachment to her.  She has used her intelligence and creativity to make difficult topics more understandable, and to design interesting math lesson plans, worksheets, and year-long curricula for several grade levels.  Sybil has an unusual patience with and sensitivity to young people, and she quickly earns their trust and affection.  She has the ability to immediately put at ease young people who come with trepidation to a math class.  She also relates easily with parents and our other teachers, whom she trains." R. G.

"Sybil Barker has been the homeschool teacher for my daughters for two years.  She has taught them all the academic subjects at elementary and middle school levels. Ms. Sybil's expertise, intelligence, and creativity have enabled her to adapt lessons to my children's individual needs and learning styles.  She is very patient and calm with my youngest daughter's learning difficulties.  She spends extensive time at home preparing lessons and collecting library books and other resources.  She has created and collected many educational games that strengthen their skills and make lessons more engaging. I wish we could take Ms. Sybil with us when we move out of state. She will be greatly missed and very hard to replace."  Sandra S.

"I would highly recommend Sybil Barker for the position of tutor. She has exceptional abilities in inspiring children in the language arts area. She created the curriculum for several of my reading groups.  She is very interested in the way children learn and in various ways to stimulate learning in children.  In closing, I would like to mention Sybil has a very gentle way with all people.  She is considerate, kind, patient, and always shows respect for every person."   Leah C.

"You really take a lot of interest in teaching my son.  He really enjoys your class and in turn he wants it every day.  You go according to him like listening to all the things he talks to you about.  I really feel "God Blessed" to have you as his teacher."   Shailaja M.

"We had the pleasure of having Mrs. Barker tutor our daughter, during her 4th grade year.  This was a very trying time for her, and Mrs. Barker was able to help and explain the material necessary for her to understand and pass.  My daughter also took the knowledge she learned from Mrs. Barker, and carried it with her to 5th grade - where she is doing very well, with no struggles.  Mrs. Barker is very patient
and speaks to children on their level, she is also a great listener.  I highly recommend her to anyone, who has a child that is struggling."  Wendy S.
